Oriole gained his freedom today!

Today, Oriole was released, along with 9 others, at Salt Springs. These are a few of the nice photos taken during the release.

Birdy, thank you for posting the photos here.  :eclove   What a wonderful and beautiful day!

Many good people made it possible, beginning with our H.E.A.R.T. team, Booni and Wren, with assistance from Reg, Maj, and the interns MARS over the phone!     :heart

Norm transported him in the helicopter to IWNCC for evaluation and care.

I'm going to check...I believe that Ajl created the recipe for the smoothies he was fed before he was ready for fish whole or in pieces.

Our generous chatters and viewers contributed the money for his care.   :clap

Many others were involved, also.  I'm sorry not to be able to mention all of them.

So nice to see that they aren't alone for their big adventure! They seem to be very social!

Sparky, thanks for finding and posting these two videos. I can barely type through the tears after watching the little seal so joyously heading to the open sea...it's home!  :heart

From Salt Spring's Facebook a few minutes ago   :eccry

Sad news regarding Winter Wren. Sometime very early this morning he succumbed to a massive infestation of lungworm and died. We are very disappointed to have let him down and appreciated everyones concern.

oh, that is sad!  So many people were involved in his rescue and transport, I am sure they are all devastated.  :ecsad

These are the rest of the fotos i took of Oriole the evening we were assessing his condition.
i knew nothing about Seal pups at that time.
Now, a year later, when i look at these fotos, i can see that this little fella needed help.
i will know better for next time.
