Someone else mentioned that Norm has wings (helicopter) and I'm sorry I don't remember who it was.

An update on the rescued seal pup, given by Leigh, a volunteer at IWNCC, adapted from the chat and posted here by permission.

Good evening all...this is Leigh, the volunteer at Island Wildlife Natural Car Centre.  Just wanted to let you know that little Oriole is doing VERY well! I had the great pleasure of assisting in Oriole's feeding this morning...what a little chow hound!  Right now, the pup is getting herring smoothies loaded with meds and vitamins....then, after a while he'll start to learn how to eat whole fish.... it's a learning process for them....first smoothes by a feeding tube, then hand fed, then free feeding.

But, as of now, the prognosis is excellent.

Someone asked last night about the name...The centre picks a theme each year...last year cartoon characters. this year birds!

We release our seal pups when they get to be around 60 pounds....we release here on Salt Spring....very close to Wallace Island where there are many, many moms and babies...they thrive!

Leigh also mentioned that seal pups usually stay with their moms for about two months, and that Oriole is about 2 weeks old.

Thank you Leigh for updating us, and for allowing me to post your update here.
