Eagle and Eaglet in Nest  (original wood carving)

Hornby Eagles Carving posted by Cathy G. (LA) on Flickr

Yellow Eagle has been carving since he was child and made his own toys.  This is the first time that he has created eagles and was inspired by Mom and Dad Hornby, their eaglets, and the nest.  He placed Dad in the tree and Mom with two eaglets and a salmon in the nest, so it is complete!

A quilt I  made in 1989, based on a poster of a hawksbill sea turtle by Dan Gilbert.

(9/17/2014: the website that hosted this picture was closed -  I shall have to repost it ...  it is also my "face" on my Facebook page.))

This is the tiger head that I drew a number of years ago and use as my avatar here on the forum.  It was drawn on black acid-free paper, using white Conte Crayon and white colored-pencil.

I was fortunate enough to be the recipient of the winning bid on an original painting, "Phoenix Rising" - generously donated by the artist, Leza Macdonald, as a fund-raiser for HEG.

"Phoenix Rising" Original Design & Painting
Painted by Leza Macdonald
2011

Leza, who lives in Oliver, B.C., and her friend Carol, came up with the idea of donating this painting as a thank you for the hours of pleasure these two friends have experienced watching the nest together. “Phoenix Rising“ is an 18" x 24" acrylic painting of a mature Bald Eagle in full flight.

In Leza’s words:

“We must all join together to protect not only these magnificent birds but all of Mother Nature’s gifts to our planet.  This is a good way to start.  The Hornby Island Eagles webcam is one of the great educators and acts as mankind’s eye on what is really happening in nature.”
