Thanks, emc.  I was wondering about that for a while now.

Wonderful to hear about Mishi seeing Dad while taking a walk!  What a wonderful treat!  Can't wait to hear from Mishi!  And I hope Mom returns while Mishi's still there!  With both adults around we'll all breath easily!

redacd1:  Dad courts mom by bringing her gifts of food.
I'd like to have a guy like that!  :heart

But he'd have to understand that I like my fish cooked.

Welcome to the discussion thread for the 2010-2011 season of the Hornby eagles.  Please feel free to discuss the eagles and what you see on the nest in this thread - plain screenshots or links to videos from the broadcasts are welcome here also.

We expect Mom and Dad Hornby to arrive back on Hornby Island any day: October 2 is the day they are usually spotted in their territory near Doug and Sheila Carrick's home, and they usually visit the nest within a couple of weeks after that (see Doug's Timetable:  http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?topic=38.0).

This will be the 22nd year of nesting for Mom and Dad Hornby. Answers to many basic questions about the nest and about Mom and Dad can be found in the Reference Center of this forum: http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?board=26.0

What's going on in the nest?  I heard some sawing... hammering?  Specifically, what are they doing?

Cleaning the cameras and mounting a new one.  And making the nest bowl deeper.  It's thrilling!

This is absolutely exciting!  And fun being able to hear them talking.

And I finally got a full screen.  Hope it will stay that way.  :ecsmile

It turned out that there was no safe place to mount the new camera, so it was taken back down.  But Darian cleaned the lenses.

Rag on a long stick was used to clean the WA

I'm so glad everyone (2 I think) got down safely.  :heart

All I could think of here was how he would jump if Pa Hornby came in from behind and landed on his hand!

Thank you to Darian and Dan.  Also to Doug for all the effort that went into this.

Is Darian a local man that now knows the in's and out's of the ropes Dan left on the nest tree?   (And now familiar with the nest tree climb so that he may also, in the future, be called upon in an emergency situation?)
