The poem is beautiful Luv.  We will all soar with her memory, every time we see an eagle flying.

With tears and smiles I thank you for the poem....It touched many who have known and watched Phoenix. She was an inspiration to us and the world of Eagles.
I loved her and miss her terribly.

Thank you all for the kind words.  I know that we all cared for Phoenix and still feel her loss.  :heart

And I could not help but pen one more poem for Phoenix.  Doug, of course, bestows the names on the Hornby eaglets.  I was honored that he heard of and chose to use the name that came to me on March 21st.

One more little poem for our Phoenix:

Phoenix - Your Name

Phoenix, your name occurred to me
On the night the first egg was laid
It came to me so suddenly
T’was almost as if unbade

I knew that you’d be special
A symbol of the cam’s rebirth
As well as of your species and
I hoped also for the earth

Little did I know that night
How prophetic would be your name
Or how much you would be loved
And how you would find fame

I thought that you would be
Alive for many years
Never did I imagine
I would soon be shedding tears

But despite the sorrow, Phoenix
You truly represented your name
And those of us who watched you
Will never be the same

For in fact, like your name
You have risen from your nest
And have helped us all to try
To always do our very best

To care for the animals of the world
And to ease them with their plight
And because of you more eagles live
To enjoy the thrill of flight

Phoenix, yes, you were reborn
In some ways you did not die
You live again in many hearts
And in every bird that I see fly

As hard as I try, i still can't handle this one, Why couldn't she have been one of the lucky ones??? I've never felt so close to a bird in my life, even though I had some of my own and carted for them every day until the end. Doubt if I'll ever be able to read this one.  Suziq

Luv...beautiful.  I too, believe that whenever I see an eaglet, I will think of Phoenix who opened my door to loving these beautiful birds. I miss her so much and am waiting with anticipation to see what the new season with Mom and Dad Hornby will bring. Thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us.
