Yea me and sue, were just playing with the camera,, luckily when the eagle was fighting with the tree,,, after he dropped the first one i thought he was done,,, not so,, a very persistant bird, and we wondered what was wrong with a stick that was on the ground, but he wanted one off of that limb.. When they first started building the nest in the 1st part of oct. the leaves were still on the trees, and we figured they were building, but had no idea how close, to the house it was till most of the leaves fell off. it is amazing how strong they are,, some of the limbs/logs were 5' long and as big as a baseball bat when they 1st started, and some were heard crashing to the ground when they tried flying to that tree to place them. I'm a contractor,,,and amazed how strong looking that nest is for the 1st year here..

Elsie is the one who is on the left, in the video.  :heart

Right after the eagles leave the area.  Our eagles in British Columbia are not gone for a long time, and if you're not sure how long your's are gone, then, right after you are sure they have left, not just the nest, but the area around the nest.

Let us know how you get along.

can't figure this one out,,, they are actually building a new nest,,this one even closer to the house,, about 75',,, if you view the end of the video where i'm trying to get him to take the fish,, the new nest is about 6 ' to the right in the fork of the same tree....
only one eagle seemed to survive,,, we named him ernie and he took off about 6 weeks ago,, he was bigger than mom or dad,, but very ugly..
these eagles actually land on our handrail,, kinda scary...
will have new cam setup by the weekend,,,

they only have 6 or 7 half days of construction so far,,, they build from 7am to about 11 then they are gone... just as they built the old nest last year.

link to original video

i'll keep ya posted with url of cam once it is setup,,, waiting on cables,, suposed to be here friday

Thumper, you were able to document the eagle selecting a branch and breaking it off to take back to the nest.  We've heard about it, but this is the first time that I've seen it happening!  Wow! :clap

they are building a new nest this year,,,(closer to the house) and sometimesthey have trouble with the bigger branches so when they're both in the nest i'll go out and break them into smaller branches,,,they watch,, then when i go back inside they come back down and grab them... kinda makes me feel as i am helping...
