:ecsmile The observations of local residents are both helpful and reassuring to me. I think returning eagles are a bit early this year? I love the ID referrences - dark tail feather, white mark on dad, etc. And of course, a picture is worth a thousand words   Thank you Wren and Booni, friends and neighbours, for sharing your magical island with all of us.

jeavverhey, this is typical arrival back time for our Eagles.
Dad came back 2016 on september 25!

While that Eagle was perched in The Babysitting Tree, Em was, again, on the wide angle camera box.

Off she goes!

i thought that was it, so i was walking away when she landed in The Babysitting Tree.
This is one of the upper left branches, where she tends to perch.
i like how her toes are all spread out on those spindly branches.

Left foot is now tucked up against her belly warming, & she is relaxed.

Both feet down again, so i thought she was leaving, but, no.

Beautiful photos, Booni. I'm happy that Em is back.  Was hoping Dad would be with her, but Em helps tp carry on the connection to him.

Grassy Point just after 6 pm today.

I know well enough by now to pay attention when an eagle makes a beeline for the middle of nowhere offshore.

Thank you, Tigerlady!

Passing right by me now, but unfortunately on the sun side.

I've lightened these shots a lot.

October 8, 6:02 pm

Some serious moulting of flight feathers and I think tail also, visible here. 'Tis the season, from what I've seen on other years.

Looks like a pretty decent Thanksgiving feast.
