This sweet Song Sparrow was dipping in the creek for the longest time so i went to get my camera to see what she was doing up close.
i am having trouble finding & following her, but you get a few glimpses as she forages around, & then at the end of the video she kind of freezes & just stares at me.
Fascinating to see her looking at me, watching her.

Here*s the male Pileated Woodpecker at the suet feeder.
You can see his lovely red cheek bar that differentiates him from the female.

The Golden-Crowned Sparrows are back!  :heart
They arrive every year around this time, tank up for two to three weeks, then are gone again.
i LOVE their song!
i*ll try to get a video of it, but this is from inside the house.

Wow booni....around here, your yard would be considered sacred ground!  Mushroom hunters around here keep their morel area "finds" so secret, they pass it on in wills!   LOL

Hi Otto.  :heart

Here is our beautiful male Rufous Hummingbird again, this time not through a window & fishnetting!
This first one isn*t as sharp as i would like, but it shows his lovely greeny/yellow *wings*!
Neat how the light caught the Spider web going straight down from where he is perched.

Oh, she is so pretty!

I am still laughing about the Chickadee landing in your hair! I remember people saying "my hair looks like a bird's nest" when it was not combed yet for the day.  Whether yours was or was not is not really the point...obviously s/he found your hair appealing enough for a visit! They know you are the "bird whisperer" booni. ♥

All great photos.  Thanks for sharing your sanctuary with us.

Not only was he moving fast, his body was also moving fast.
i think he*d just had a bath & was preening.

Booni   your garden sure attracts a large variety of birds. Must be a beautiful place to be. Your photos are lovely.  Who is that handsome black and white fellow in your photo?

Are there outside cats on Hornby Island?
Inquiring minds want to know. I know this is a weird question, but Mr. Raj tells me that our peepee cat Misha is at risk because we have heard eagles in our area.
