I was fiddling with the new recording program I'm using and caught a young adult Bald Eagle on the Sidney nest.  Unfortunately, I managed to stop the recording (by mistake!) so I got only a few seconds.  Here's some screenshots:

yalittledevil managed to record this fella and you can see the video HERE

video: Who's Trespassing in the Sidney Nest?

Here's the few seconds of video I managed to get.  Looks like this eagle isn't quite fully an adult.  He/she doesn't have a completely white head.

Interesting little video - Thanks, beans.

Mom and Dad Sidney have been snoozing or hunting somewhere away from the nest.

Thanks, Nancy & Barb.  I was wondering whether or not members in ONZ were following the Sidney nest.  Perhaps M/M Sidney will produce triplets for the third year in a row.  They wouldn't lay three eggs unless they had a good food source.

Video:  Welcome Home Sidney Bald Eagles

I like that brief "beaking" between the two of them

Beans, thanks for posting the Sids video.  It's nice to be able to see them on the nest.  I'm usually so busy with our Hornby eagles, I forget to look at the Sids nest.  Looks like beaking is an eagle way to get a point across.   :ecsmile

Dad and his sticks!  All Dad eagles are interested in the sticks.

In the 2007 season, I saw Dad fly in with a huge stick.  Where to put that big stick!

I uploaded most of the Sidney/Saanich and Hornby Island videos to my YouTube website.  The reason I am using YouTube is that I have big videos, 640 x 480, and many of them are over 25 MB.  Also, I just didn't want to post Hornby Island videos in the Hancock Media Gallery this year.  I can tell that some people are watching these old videos on YT.  Good memories.

Beans, I laughted at this video until I had tears rolling down my cheeks! First, I got tickled at how many times he kept trying to move it and the eaglet appeared to be standing on it. Then, trying to decide where it fit/looked best. Finally, in the end, I just roared as it must be a female eaglet...she had to put it somewhere else!

Thank you for the laughter!

Thanks!

The eagles always seem so patient, with each other and their babies.  The only time I saw Madame Sidney lose her temper was when an eagle stole her food.  She's spitting mad, waving her arms, and cursing.  Ok, so that is a human interpretation of the action ...  I admit it.   :ecwink
