Spotted this gorgeous Bird near where the Periwinkles usually hang out together in their perch Tree by the water!

i love how their *thighs* are red!

Look at those gorgeous ruffly neck feathers!
There is red on the neck, & at the *shoulder* of the wing, too.

Preening!

Under their right wing.
Can you find their head & neck in the midst of all that shamozzle?

When i rescued the injured Great Blue Heron in the Shingle Spit Nest territory, i had chased him through bush & stream, just to have him end up where he was in the first place.
When i climbed out of the creek with my towel, THIS is how he faced me off!, kronking too!  :eceek
All i remember are those two eyes, & how the beak disappeared.
i told him he was tough, & that i was scared, which i was!
You can read the rescue story here.
Look at the lovely stripey neck feathering.

Look at the triangle of yellow on the upper beak near the face.
Lovely eye colour!

It was a hot hot day on the beach when i spotted this lovely Great Blue Heron again.
The heat waves were distorting the Heron, so only a few of the fotos i took are passable.
Look at the lovely setting for this beautiful Bird.
You can even see their reflection.
