Hello Larkin:

Some suggestions for you:

(1)  Stanley Park - obviously, and you are within walking distance from your hotel

(2)  UBC Museum of Anthropology (plus Nitobe botanical gardens)

(3)  You could visit OWL (Orphaned Wildlife) www.owlcanada.org  They are in Delta, and you would have to consult Translink to find out how to get there.  If you do plan to go, let me know and I could maybe meet you there - you can PM me here in the forum.

(4)  If you enjoy gardens, you could visit Van Dusen Gardens - in Vancouver and on a bus route.

Sorry but I am of absolutely no help with restaurants and such, as I seldom go into the city for lunch or dinner - we have so many good places to eat in my area.

If I think of anything else I will add it to the list.

Foldi, I was so hoping that you would respond to Larkin's post.  :eclove  Larkin, sounds like a wonderful trip!  I agree with foldi that Stanley Park would be a great place to visit.  My sister lives in Vancouver and I always make a point to go there when I visit.  I , also, enjoyed the Vancouver Aquarium. http://www.vanaqua.org/ Lots to see and do there.

I will ask my sister if she would recommend any restaurants in your immediate area.  She lived on Ponder years ago but, of course, I am not sure of the proximity to your hotel.

BBE may look in and see your post and have some suggestions.  Have a great time!

Larkin, I'm so excited for you!  Lucky You, and it will be fantastic no matter what. Advice you might already know, which came in handy for me:  You might want to order some Canadian money for the days you will be in Vancouver. Also, my phone carrier charged extra while I was in Canada, so I tried to use email while at hot spots instead of texting or phoning.

Our good friends just returned from a similar cruise, and they loved it. Hope you'll take your camera along and share with us!

:woohoo :woohoo   Here I am in Vancouver!  Thanks to All of you who have offered suggestions and support for my journey.  It was a long trip from Virginia and it is hard to be so close to Hornby and not able to visit this trip.  Here's hoping I manage a HIP trip soon.
The 3 1/2 days are going too fast.  Tomorrow my group of 5 friends arrive and Sunday we sail on the Oosterdam for Alaska.  I believe that my request is in for for a camera capture of me passing Mom and Dad's nest??    That is asking a big favor I know-thank you so much.
