Thought any of you with aging parents may enjoy this.  It tugs at my heart strings.

Bruner: just saw your link and watched the video. Tears are flowing. My Aunt and my Mom had forms of dementia that took away their recent memory. It is hard to stay patient all of the time. Beautifully presented reminders for us all.

emc, sorry about your mom and aunt.  I understand your tears.

My Dad died in 2002.   That took the wind out of my sails, and then my mother died in 2008, having spent 10 years in a manor, suffering with Alzheimers.  I spent many days by her bedside, praying that she would realize it was me talking to her.  I like to think that she did know, but who really knows.  She had been such a loving mother and  was so smart, and then to end up like that.  They tell me that time heals, but it sure is taking a long time.  I was very, very close to both of them.

I'm sure they knew you loved them and was a wonderful daughter to them.
Treasure your happy times with them, remembering them seems to help.  :ecsmile

Phoenix the Eaglet
Phoenix, fiery bird and black as coal
Rose from the ashes in my soul.
The bird so loved and much adored
Had to break the umbilical cord
As death took her away so fast
In a moment,  - we were all aghast.
From a tiny egg to a majestic being
With spacious wings that would never be freeing.
But freed you were in a different way
You climbed the heights of a brand new day.
You showed us our own fragility,
Reminded us of cruel reality,
You taught us to be thankful for our time,
Now soar, blessed bird, through the skies divine.
