Wildlife Freedom (New Jersey)
« on: July 16, 2012, 08:18:36 PM »
A few weeks ago I finally connected with Dee - the woman who has run Wildlife Freedom for at least 30 years.  Her place is 5 minutes from my home.  I have been going to her place several times a week ever since - and I miss it on the days I can't get there.  She is a licensed rehabber who cares for orphaned or injured animals until they can be released.  There are also several permanent residents - ducks, geese, chickens, guinea hens, horses and mules, and two peacocks.  Additionally, her daughter is an animal control officer for several small towns - so there are some dogs and ---I'm told --cats on the premises.

I spend my time there hosing out enclosures, cleaning and refreshing food and water bowls, and bottle feeding fawns.

There are a number of young raccoons, several young foxes, the fawns, baby skunks, woodchucks - and - well the possums were released recently.  All the young ones will be released when old enough.

More to follow and pictures when I figure that out.

Thanks so much for the pics! Wonder if the fox on the left thinks he is hiding?

And the racoons, lol, what little monkeys they are.

Your help there is treasured for sure as your reports here are.  :biggrin3

thanks all-----today was a double header - was there midday to do the usual --and show a newbie the ropes --
also met up with a local landscaper to discuss the pond---have to call someone else --and since I was asked I went back this evening ----to herd the chickens, turkeys and guinea hens into the barn and some of the ducks into an outdoor enclosure (so no one would get eaten by night time wildlife --so here's how you do it ---you say---go to bed, go to bed, go to bed ----and believe it or not most of the poultry listen......

walked one of the dogs (rehabber's daughter is an animal control agent - so there are dogs and cats around) --
and saw 3 beautiful little red kittens the daughter brought in as well as two little skunks ---wish I could foster the kittens but my cats would go bonkers......

anyone know how to raise about $10,000 or more for the pond - quickly ??  suggestions are welcome.....
