Thank you.  I believe this is a mourning dove.  We have a large, extended family of these doves around our house.  They have their own hanging platform feeder (safe from cats!).  This morning two beautiful black crows visited my yard.  They wanted the peanuts I had put out for the jays.  There were a number of jays, and all that activity attracted the crows.

When I think about peace, I think about birds and other wildlife.

Lovely as usual, Beans.  Thankyou.

When I seek peace, I take a stroll through my garden and commune with nature.  The cares of the world fade away as the birds twitter in the trees and a spider steadily weaves its web between some branches beside a path.

There is nothing more peaceful than hearing the contented chirps of the birds staking out their night time roosts as dusk envelops the garden.

Earth speaks through wilderness.
We still have a moment to listen.

Beautifully put, Blue!  And your garden is so special...

Perhaps everyone will post their pictures & videos here.  My Christmas decorating will be limited this year, so I'll enjoy all of yours!

Great thread Beans,
Reminds me of a poem I wrote some years ago.

          Morning Walk

A lilting wind and a country path,
squirrels jumping wild and free
I stroll along in the dew fresh dawn,
with the grassy track to guide me.

I hear the wind whisper my name,
as the grass touches my knees
and I walk alone in the shady lane,
in the cool Island breeze.

The wind speaks to me of eternity,
as it bracingly slips along
making waves in the dew kissed grass,
in tune to the birds songs.

I feel so free in this grassy sea,
as I mingle with the wind that blows,
I'll return home with my thoughts all clear
and my spirit all a-glow.

1984 Peace, Laura

I'm looking forward to seeing the Christmas Decorations. :ecsmile

What a beautiful poem.  You are very talented!

Here is my Christmas decor.  The pictures were taken in 2005, but not much has changed since then.

Christmas Hummel Angels

Living Room

Window

What I did was make some red silk pillows for the sofa, a smaller one for my chair, a heavy quilted cover for the round table, and some satin slipcovers for the window chairs.  Then I add some flowers, toys, red runner for the coffee table, etc.  I have some small wall hangings, candles, fresh greenery with tiny white lights.  And a big wreath for the front door.  The dining room gets a special table cloth and a large pot of dark red poinsettias.

Beans, thanks for making this thread!  It's so nice to share the season with our friends here.   :heart   Your decorating ideas look like they really create a holiday mood...and fit in beautifully with what you already have.   :eclove   May we see the dining room table with the runner, too?

Blue and I discovered we have the same musical Christmas angels.  They are music boxes that play a sweet Christmas melody.

Hark! The herald angels sing...

Here's mine turning and playing a "Silent Night":

Beans,

I thank you too for this topic.  I love sharing ideas for the "Holydays" and the new year.  Your picture and idea have inspired me to get going on my Christmas table.

The Angel and her music are beautiful.

I suspect you are also - inside and out!

Hugs,
Rajame  :heart

An experience I had at Christmas 1987

            OLD MAN

I stepped out of my shop tonight
and stared around at the beautiful sight
of snowflakes softly falling down
and people rushing all around.
There was Christmas decorations everywhere,
"Silent Night" floating through the air
from carols piped from City Hall,
and surrounding all that soft snowfall.
As people rushed with arms filled tight
their shopping done for another night,
I wanted to shout, everyone slow down,
please take time to look around.
Am I the only one who can see the lights
and the beauty surrounding us tonight,
I wished I had someone there
for this was a moment I wanted to share.
I then sensed someone by my side,
the old man had a knowing smile,
"Merry Christmas, to you, " the old man said,
"I know what your thinking inside your head,
I'll share this moment here with you,
there's nothing I would rather do."
the old mans face showed pure delight,
as we stood there listening to "Silent Night".
And as the people rushed to and fro,
carrying their presents through the falling snow,
I turned to the old man standing there
but I could not see him anywhere.
When I looked at the snow where he had been,
there were no footprints to be seen,
was he real---had he been there,
or had I imagined him, with my need to share?
But as I turned to walk away,
I felt like I'd been Blessed today
when I heard a whisper in my ear,
"Have a Holy Christmas dear."

I was delighted when Beans posted her Christmas angel a couple of years ago because I have a similar one.  They are at least 50 years old.  So I photographed mine to show her.

2007, with red and white berries in the diningroom

and 2008, in the livingroom

...and a video of her turning around and playing 'Silent Night'
