Sadly, as we all know; life is not always rosy for the animals in Africa.  :ecsad

Thurs. or Friday night CAT a lone impala was at the pond.  Two black-backed jackals appeared and chased the impala. While running along the water's edge to allude the jackals, the impala fell into the pond. The jackals left and the impala hid in the reeds along the shoreline. When it finally tried to get out of the water it was obviously mired in mud and weeds; and couldn't make it and died.  The pond inhabitants were seen feeding on it.

It is seldom we see this, thanks to D. Hanning.

And many thanks to Pat Nebraska for two lovely videos in the past 24 hours.

The lone leopard appears from about the 2:30 minute mark to the 4 minute mark.

And some of my faves, who I've not seen for about 3 weeks

Now back to my 'News Feed' and 'Djuma Junkies' as one or the other had a link to info about 'C4 photography and photographic hides.'

:sorry -  I couldn't find my photos/video of the elphants taken from a 'hide' (raft) in late 2006 / early 2007. But, I did find this video from a slideshow I made on Nov. 2006. had to upload it to YT, who automatically tweaked it.

It may take a a couple of seconds to start and you may need to turn the sound up.  I had to change the music this was set to due to . The original version way back, never posted on YT was set to Henry Mancini's 'Elephant Walk'.  :nod2

I was busy bookmarking the new link to the pond cam and missed all but the last of a small breeding herd of ellies who sauntered by:

This evening I have been trying out the updated version of photo/video program.  So, from the morning of May 30, 2012 CAT here are a couple of photos and a video.

These were take between 6:41 am and 6:53 am CAT -  uslng the new WE link for PP cam.

6:41 am

6:53 am

At 6:48 am CAT a lone impala came for a snack of leaves. Sun rising. And the ellies have left a calling card.  :ecsmile

6:48 am CAT, a strange noise emanated from the area. Zoomie toured the pond, but nothing seen; except a smal black and white bird near the hide.
