Title: Cafe Press shop
Post by: NancyM on August 02, 2010, 02:58:11 PM
We are very pleased to announce the opening of our Cafe Press gift shop with two "Phoenix" designs based on photographs by generous local photographer boonibarb. We are especially indebted to Maureen (Mojo) for the designs and setting up the shop for us. We plan to add more designs soon, including one of Mom and Dad Hornby.

All proceeds from the shop will benefit the Hornby Eagle project.

For each design, there is a section for apparel (T-shirts, caps, aprons, etc.) and non-apparel (cards, magnets, tote bags, etc.)

Blue...you are right.  The cardinal red sets off #1 photo of Phoenix perfectly.  And, I am so pleased with the quality of the photo.  Nice choice!

Just wanted to let peeps know about the quality of the tee shirts from Cafe Press.  If you have never ordered from them, their tees are really first-rate, quality merchandise, and of substantial weight---even the lightweight ones.  PLUS, the customer service dept. is incredibly good and their shipping is fast w/o paying for any special service!  Definitely a good company to deal with.

The quality if their items is very good.  I've ordered things in the past and been happy with all of them:  a tote bag, tiles, T-shirt.  I'm going to get the red T-shirt with the Phoenix design #1.  Love the picture of her.  :eclove

Mojo has done a wonderful job with the Cafe Press shop.  Today we released a new design of Mom Hornby in all her majesty  - wings spread wide  :eclove

http://www.cafepress.com/HornbyEagles/7242632

We are currently working on a design of Mom & Dad sitting together in the Peters' Tree, and hope to have it available within a week.

PS.  I have ordered several items from CafePress over the years and have always been impressed with the quality.  Mojo does have some comments about the sizing of some of the clothing items as to whether they run large or small, so you might post a question here if you are wondering.

I would like to offer my "thank you" as well. Everything is just wonderful! I do have a question, at Nancy's urging, how true to size are CP sizes? Good to know if they run a bit small or otherwise before ordering.
Title: Re: Cafe Press shop
Post by: Mary Jane on August 05, 2010, 09:55:28 PM
Mojo said that the ones that run a bit "different" (small) she has made notes on the product description - so people would know to order up a size.  Mojo - when you get a chance, can you confirm this?

On the hoodies the picture is on the left hand side instead of middle. Is it possible to get a sweatshirt or long sleeved t-shirt with the pic placed there?

Very nice Mojo & everyone else involved. :thumbsup

The hooded sweatshirt without a zipper has the design in the middle.  The zippered ones have it on the left.

Hi Everybody!!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my designs.  Booni’s beautiful photos definitely give me lots of inspiration!

Let me see if I can answer some of the questions on the products.  I haven’t personally tried all of the different shirt styles, but of the ones I have tried, these are the ones that run small:

Jr. Ringer T
Cap sleeve T
Jr. Raglan
Raglan Hoodie
Jr. Hoodie

I normally wear a size medium t-shirt, but in those products I’ve had to order two sizes up (XL).  The largest available size on all but the cap sleeve T is XL; the cap sleeve does come in XXL, but it is nowhere NEAR an actual XXL.

Of all the other shirts that I have tried (Women’s T, Women’s Dk. T, Womens V-neck T, Jr. Jersey T, Value T, Women’s Zip Hoodie) the sizing seems very true – medium is my normal size and that size has been fine in all of them.

In the men’s styles, I’ve ordered the Golf Shirt, the Light T, the Green T, the Dark T, the Yellow T, the Ringer T, the Baseball Jersey, and the Long-sleeved Dk. T.  They all seem fairly true to size as well; a Large is what you would expect a Large to be.

As for design placement, I believe many (possibly most) of the items can have the design placed in “pocket” position.  I haven’t done that because it would double the set-up time to offer every shirt both ways; if you have a particular shirt that you would like to see it offered on, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Hope this helps!!

Mojo

Mojo, they all look wonderful!  Thanks for the information about sizes.  Does Cafe Press have any sleep shirt styles...the kind made of heavy T-shirt materials and come down to about the knees?  I really like those, if they make that style available to you.   :eclove   Red with the Phoenix #1 design would look great in a sleep shirt.   :nod2

Thanks, Booni!  I was just getting ready to post that!

Tigerlady, unfortunately they don't carry sleep shirts.  The only shirt that appears to be on the longer side (at least based on the images) is the maternity style; but I don't think that goes to the knees.  So sorry!

Just curious  :question ... are items shipped from Canada or from the US? The site is .ca and it's in Cdn$, so I am assuming it's shipped from Canada, but if it's shipped from the US to Canada, I'm guessing there might be duty payable.  I have an order that was shipped today, so I'm wondering if I might have to wait longer due to Customs and if I might have to pay duty.  Thanks, if anyone can answer.   :biggrin6

Hi marjy2u,

Products are shipped from the U.S., but according to this link, duties and taxes are included in the checkout price.  Here's the information about shipping to Canada:

---------------------
Shipping to Canada

Cafepress offers several different shipping methods to meet your delivery needs. We calculate our shipping cost for each shipping method based on the type and quantity of items you order. Your shipping and handling charges are summarized at checkout. At this time, tracking is available for Standard and Express Shipping.

Shipping and handling for all products (in US dollars):
(except single stickers, buttons, magnets, greeting / note cards and CD's.)
Shipping Method    Timing            1st Item    2nd Item    Duties & Taxes (GST)
Standard    5-10 business days    $5.00        $2.00              Included
Express    2-4 business days       $28.00       $6.00              Included

Because of the extra care we take to ensure your items are received undamaged and in perfect condition, posters, yard signs, banners and framed prints are shipped in separate packages. These products incur two 1st item shipping costs.

Shipping and handling for orders containing ONLY single sticker, button, magnet, greeting / note card or CD's (in US dollars):
Shipping Method    Timing           1st Item       2nd Item    Duties & Taxes (GST)
Standard    5-10 business days      $3.00       $0.50             Included
Express    2-4 business days        $28.00      $6.00             Included

Canadian Duties and Taxes:

For Standard and Express shipping, duties and taxes are included in your checkout price.

Your items may arrive in different shipments. Depending on the type, quantity and weight of items in your order, we may pack and ship them in different packages to ensure they arrive on time and undamaged. You will never be charged more for shipping and handling than what appears at checkout.

Cafepress.com does its best to ensure your delivery arrives on time. However, delivery dates are not guaranteed and there may be a number of unforeseen reasons why your items will arrive after the estimated arrival date. Large orders (100+ items), customs clearance, credit card authorization and verification, issues to designs or media may all delay delivery of your order.
---------------------

(This info. can be found by clicking on "shipping rates" at the bottom of the page, then selecting Canada.)

Hope this helps!

Mojo

Thanks, Mojo.  That is good news for Canadians.  I like this part:

You will never be charged more for shipping and handling than what appears at checkout.

Post by: marjy2u on August 10, 2010, 05:09:32 PM
Thank you, Mojo ... yes, that's very helpful and also explains why the tracking button doesn't work.  I think I read somewhere during the order process or on the web site that tracking is only available in the US, so if it ships from there, then that explains that.  I find it curious that the prices are listed in Cdn$ and I was directed to a .ca web site, so I wondered if perhaps there were locations in both the US and Canada.
Title: Re: Cafe Press shop
Post by: NancyM on August 10, 2010, 05:20:17 PM
I'm not at all sure why it happens, but I was testing the currency button in the upper right of the Cafe Press page  - you can select from 5 different currencies - and sometimes I get taken to the .ca site as well (I am in the US).

It is great that they plan ahead and include any customs duties  etc with the shipping charges. I have also heard people praise the Customer Service dept - a few have had to make exchanges because of sizing problems.  Good customer service can win customers for life, so CP clearly has the right idea to make sure that everyone is happy with their purchases.

Post by: marjy2u on August 10, 2010, 10:17:12 PM
You're right about the currency button, NancyM.  Just after I posted, I went back and discovered that button ... this time, the default I got was US$ and .com.   :ecrolleyes  Oh well, I guess I'll find out everything I need to know when my order arrives.  =)  I'm definitely happy to hear there won't be any duty charges.  One never knows which items might be duty-free (or not).

Post by: marjy2u on August 22, 2010, 07:38:09 PM
FYI if you're a Canadian customer ... my order arrived Aug 19, while I was away for a few days.  Not bad - only 10 days for shipping and one or two days longer for them to produce the order.  Less than 2 weeks, total.  I picked my items up from the post office today and got them in the wash right away.  Everything came out nicely, and there wasn't much shrinkage, as the fabrics used are pre-shrunk.

I ordered a hoodie and a men's t-shirt, and the sizes seem what one would expect.  I also ordered a ladies t-shirt, and it is much shorter in length than the men's, also as one might expect.  I prefer a looser fit, so I'm glad I ordered a size larger on that one.  Finally, I ordered an apron for work (I teach Home Ec) and it's a fantastic heavier-weight cotton twill with the strap that goes through the arm-curves, so you can adjust the neck-strap length.  Perfect.  The men's T is Gildan brand (great quality) and the hoodie is Hanes heavy-weight cotton.  I'm very happy with the quality and I think the prices are competitive, especially since some goes to the HEG.  I'm not sure what %, but hopefully a decent amount.  The graphics are wonderful and I know my students are going to love my Phoenix apron!  :heart

Maybe I missed it but have you thought about nightshirts?  I love nightshirts as they are more comfortable than pj's or nightgowns.  I also like them because if I have to take the dog out at night, all I have to do is put on pants and I still feel clothed for outdoors.  I know i would buy one with Phoenix's picture #1 on it.

Hi Maria!!

Were you by any chance looking for them in the Cafepress marketplace?  If so, you won't find them there.  They're only available directly from the Hornby Eagles shop (www.cafepress.com/hornbyeagles).  If you haven't tried that link yet, please do.  I believe we have had orders from the UK, so hopefully you won't have any problems with that.

Yum yum!  Just checked my email.  Cafe press sent me the free shipping offer with same code CUPID saying good thru February 2nd.  Mojo, are they offering the individual shops an extra day?  Just want to be sure we provided correct info.  Maybe my email wrong or they are using two different dates?  One for their marketplace and a different one for the individual shops.  :puzzled2.  Thanks.  Back to my meal......

As most of you know, Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society (MARS) dedicated this year’s Eagle Fest to "THE PHOENIX LEGACY”.  We created a custom festival design featuring two popular images of Phoenix.  This design is available for a limited time in a special Festival section in our Hornby Eagles Cafepress shop, www.cafepress.com/hornbyeagles, and all proceeds from sales of this design will be donated to MARS.

We hope you will consider treating yourself (or a loved one!) to one of our special festival products, and at the same time you would be helping MARS continue their important work of wildlife rehabilitation.  But don’t delay, the design will only be available until the end of March.  Be sure to check the bottom of the page in the shop for special discounts; right now you can save $15 off of a $50 (US) purchase, but it expires 3/15/11!!

We are proud to present this "Special Edition" design featuring Mom and Dad trilling from the top of one of their favorite perch trees. The prices for this design are set slightly higher than our other designs; proceeds will help fund the new cam planned for Hornby Island.

That's wonderful to hear, Jeav!  I haven't seen the design on actual products yet (only on my computer screen!), so it's always good to know how a design looks "in reality".  I'm so happy that you like it; and I really appreciate you letting us know! :heart

Hello all!  I've just finished the Hali fledge design; it's not in the shop yet, but here's a sneak peek:

Right now I'm working on another design (or maybe two) using ground obs photos, and my hope is to release all at the same time within the next few days.  Stay tuned!

In honor of Mom and Dad Hornby and this season's eaglet, Hali, we are presenting three brand new designs! One is a series of screencaps from our new cam showing Hali's actual fledge to the Babysitting Tree, another is a close-up of Dad feeding Hali in the nest, and the third is a wonderful photo of the entire family together in a tree (ground obs photos taken by our own Boonibarb).

But please note – there seems to be a glitch with the Cafepress software. Color options that are set for each design don't seem to be “sticking”, resulting in combinations such as dark text on dark products, white on white, etc. Please be very careful that the design you want shows up correctly on the color that you choose.

Here’s the link:   www.cafepress.com/hornbyeagles (http://www.cafepress.com/hornbyeagles) .  Happy shopping, and be sure to check out the discount given at the bottom of each page.

HEGPS is pleased to announce that we have added three new designs to our Cafe Press shop created by NancyM. Two of the designs celebrate the soon to be released eaglet “Camper”, rescued near the Tribune Bay campground by HEART July 5/2014.

HEGPS is sponsoring Camper’s release in honour of Mojo, our dear friend and HEGPS member who passed away last November. Story of Campers rescue. (http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?topic=1468.msg153910#msg153910)  All profits from the sale of the Camper design products will be donated to  MARS  (http://wingtips.org/)

The third design features the delightful Scootch, this season’s eaglet! It features one of boonibarb’s fabulous photographs of Scootch.

All three designs are available now at the HEGPS  Cafe Press Designs  (http://www.cafepress.com/hornbyeagles)

The shop also has products that feature Mom and Dad Hornby and several of their offspring.
